Drawing + Painting Made Easy – Magical Animals (5 – 8 years) 

Drawing and Painting Made Easy is a fun and fast-paced drawing and painting experience for young children. The 1.5-hour skills development workshop will see participants aged 5 - 8 years invent, draw and paint a magical animal onto a canvas. This workshop is specifically designed to introduce young children to drawing and painting processes and techniques. Each participant will discover a series of simple steps to create fun and interesting artworks.

 

Location: Heathcote Cultural Precinct, Applecross

Materials Used: Acrylic paint, HB pencil, scissors, glue, paint brushes, canvas

Participants Take Home: One acrylic painting on canvas.

Drawing + Painting Master Class – Wild Animals (9 – 15 years) 

An essential workshop for young artists looking to develop their skill and understanding in the art of drawing and painting. During this 2.5-hour workshop, participants will learn how to set-up and paint a realistic animal onto canvas. No experience necessary.

Materials Used: Carbon paper, HB pencil, acrylic paint, brushes, canvas

Wednesday 11th July 2018

 

10.00 – 12.00pm

Drawing Master Class – Animals in Coloured Pencil (8 – 12 years) 

An essential workshop for young artists looking to develop their skill in the art of drawing with coloured pencils. During this 2-hour masterclass participants will learn how to set-up and draw an animal using pencil on rag paper. Participants will learn how to see and draw a detailed illustration using shading, blending and texturing techniques with coloured pencils. No experience necessary.

This workshop is perfect for young artists looking to advance their skills in the art of drawing and shading. Over the 2-hour workshop participants will learn how to create a life-like drawing using lead pencils, shading and texturing techniques. No experience necessary

Fashion Workshop – Learn to Sew, Pyjama Pants Party (9 - 15 years) 

During this three-hour sewing extravaganza participants will make their very own pair of pajama pants to keep and take home. Exploring techniques in fashion and design, participants will learn a complete set of sewing basics to help them on their path to making and wearing their own clothing. No experience necessary.

Kids Get Crafty: School Holiday Workshop - Elmer The Elephant (2 - 5 years)

 

Workshop Theme: Elmer the Elephant

 

Workshop Description: Inspired by David McKee’s colourful creation 'Elmer', Kids Get Crafty brings a 2 hour workshop based on the original storybook and illustrations.

Join your child as they create a herd of patterned elephants, a moving parts picture and a gorgeous tote bag.

 

No prior experience necessary. 

 

As this is an extended class, we will break midway for some games and refreshments to allow for little attention spans.

 

Parent Participation: Required

 

Price: $65 - All materials provided in class

 

Participants Take Home: An individually designed and painted fabric tote bag, sponge painted Elmer the Elephant and friends, a moving parts picture.

Manga Master Class: Advanced Character Development (12 - 16 years)

 

Subject: Advanced Character Development

Level: Intermediate / Advanced (Students should have basic knowledge in manga style drawing)

 

Workshop Description: Manga Master Class is a short course packed with useful tricks and tips used by professional illustrator Lauren Marshal. During this workshop participants will learn advanced skills in character development, including: 

 

  • Drawing dynamic poses and angles

  • Drawing and styling hair

  • Techniques for drawing hands and feet

  • Designing clothing and weaponry

  • Inking and colouring

Materials Used: H pencil, bristol paper, illustrating pens, coloured illustrator markers

Rainbow Unicorn Camp (5 - 10 years)

Workshop Description: Sparkles, rainbows, pastels and unicorn magic, our Rainbow Unicorn Camp is packed with fun art & craft projects and school holiday friendships. Participants can expect to learn a complete set of drawing, painting, sculpting and crafting skills using a range of colourful materials.

During the workshop participants will learn basic technical skills in the art of planning and painting a canvas with acrylic paint. Students will explore their own unique creativity as they develop an original artwork of their favourite animal. Participants can expect to learn a variety of skills in the art of drawing and painting, including:

  • How to see and mix colour

  • How to use a paintbrush

Workshop Description: Life Drawing Master Class is a skills development workshop designed specifically for young artists looking to develop their skills in the art of drawing people through observation. Packed with useful tips and tricks used by professional artists, participants will learn how to capture the essence of their subject through observational drawing techniques using graphite and charcoal. Participants can expect to learn advanced drawing skills including:

  • Body composition, proportions and structure

  • Facial composition, proportions and structure

  • Capturing an essence through observational drawing

  • The power of the quick sketch

Fashion Camp: Student Designer (9 - 16 years)

 

Fashion Camp Theme: Spring Dress or Playsuit


Fashion Camp Overview: Fashion camp is jam-packed with fun fashion and textile skills suitable for beginner and experienced sewers. Over the six-hour workshop, students can expect to learn new techniques, build skills and take home a wearable fashion item of their own design and making. Skills explored include:

  • Fashion design and illustration techniques

  • Pattern cutting

  • Garment construction

  • Machine sewing

  • Hand stitching 

No prior experience necessary.
