Drawing Made Easy (5 - 9 years)

 

Workshop Theme: Fantastic Animal T-Shirts

 

Workshop Description: Drawing Made Easy is a fun, fast-paced and colour filled drawing workshop designed specifically for young artists. During this 2-hour workshop, participants will learn basic skills in the art of drawing. Students will explore their own unique and free-flowing creativity as they create original artwork of their favourite animal onto a t-shirt to take home. Participants can expect to learn a variety of skills in the art of drawing in colour, including:

  • How to see and draw detail

  • Basic design principles - styling and layout

  • Colour theory – selecting a colour pallet

  • How to make your artwork POP!

No prior experience necessary.

Participants Take Home: One animal drawing on a white cotton t-shirt.

Pottery Basics - Learn the Pottery Wheel (10 - 15 years)

 

Workshop Theme: Wheelwork - Make a bowl

 

Workshop Description: Explore the beautiful art of pottery during this fun, creative and slightly messy workshop. Presented by Not Yet Perfect pottery studio artist Lucy Aboagye in her gorgeous Heathcote ceramics studio, participants will discover how pottery is created from start to finish. Participants can expect to learn a complete set of wheel working skills, including:

 

  • The basics of using the pottery wheel

  • Preparing the clay before for turning on the wheel

  • Centering the clay on the wheel

  • How to create different shapes on the wheel

 

No prior experience necessary.

Learn to Draw Manga (8 - 15 years)

 

Subject: Learn to draw Manga style character from head to body

 

Workshop Description: Learn to draw manga is a short course packed with useful tricks and tips used by professional illustrator Lauren Marshal. During this workshop participants will learn basic skills in the art of drawing manga style people, including: 

  •  How to draw the head: how to draw manga-style face shape (male and female); how to draw facial proportions; how to position facial features; how to draw basic manga style eyes, nose, mouth and ears

  •  How to draw manga style hair for both male and female

  •  How to divide and draw manga style body proportions

  •  How to draw basic manga style clothing 

  • No prior experience necessary.

Participants can expect to learn a complete set of hand building skills, including:

 

  • How to prepare clay for hand building

  • How to build with clay coils

Subject: Learn To Draw Animals - Make An Animal Hybrid Tote Bag

 

Workshop Description: Drawing + Shading Master Class is a skills development workshop designed specifically for young artists looking to develop their skills in the art of drawing animals. Packed with useful tips and tricks used by professional artists, participants will learn how to create detailed drawings of different types of animals to create an animal hybrid of their own design. Final illustrations will be printed on a tote bag for participants to take home. Participants can expect to learn advanced skills in the art of drawing and shading, these include:

  • Planning and composition

  • How to see and draw detail for line work

  • Value scales for tonal drawing

  • Shading with 6B, 2B & HB graphite pencil

  • How to draw feathers, fur and scales

  • No prior experience necessary.

Art + Crafts - Music + Movement (4 – 8 years)

Workshop Theme: Around The Camp Fire

Workshop Description: Kids Get Crafty and Nurturing Notes join forces to deliver a fun packed morning of art, craft, music and movement. During this 2-hour workshop children will use collage, stencilling and painting techniques to create a variety of camp themed artworks to take home. Throughout the workshop, participants will go on musical adventures with percussion instruments, action songs and rhymes. Participants can expect to learn skills in music, movement, art + crafts, including:

 

 - Keeping beat and learning rhythm

 - Fine motor control and scissor skills

 - Basic colour theory

No prior experience necessary. 

Parent Participation: Not unless prearranged (this is a drop-off activity)

Workshop Theme: Fantastic Creatures - Design and Model 3D Characters in Polymer Clay

 

Workshop Description: Cartoon + Modelling is a skills development workshop designed for young artists interested in the cartoon and animation industry. Packed with useful tips and tricks used by professional illustrator, Lauren Marshall, participants will learn how to develop a character design and then create a three dimensional model in polymer clay. Participants can expect to learn skills in illustration, design and modelling, including:

 

  • Character design and illustration

  • Basic structural anatomy

  • Creating a modelling form using aluminium foil and modelling wire

  • How to use modelling tools

  • Shaping and joining techniques for polymer clay

 

No prior experience necessary.

Workshop Description: Drawing + Painting Master Class is a skills development workshop designed specifically for young artists looking to learn skills in the art of painting realistically. Packed with useful tips and tricks used by professional artists, participants will learn how to create a detailed painting of their favourite animal on canvas with acrylic paint. Participants can expect to learn skills in drawing and painting, including:

 

  • How to see and draw detail

  • How to select and handle a range of paint brushes

  • How to see and mix colour

  • How to apply acrylic paint to a canvas

  • How to start a painting – how to apply your first layer of paint (this is called an under painting)

  • How to paint detailed features including eyes, snout/beak, fur/feathers/scales

  • How to enrich a painting with layers
