Fashion Camp Theme: Project Runway

 

Fashion Camp Overview: Fashion camp is jam-packed with fun fashion and textile projects suitable for beginner and experienced sewers. Students will learn hand stitching and embroidery, machine sewing, pattern cutting and garment construction. Each day students will learn new techniques, build skills and take home a wearable fashion item of their making.

Workshop Description: Learn to Draw and Paint is a family painting experience designed for one parent/guardian and their favourite young person. Packed with useful tips and tricks used by professional artists, participants will learn together in fun new ways as they create realistic portrait paintings on canvas with acrylic paint. Participants can expect to learn skills in drawing and painting, including:

 

  • How to see and draw detail

  • How to select and use a range of paint, brushes and canvas

  • Basic colour theory

  • How to mix skin tones

  • How to paint detailed features including eyes, nose, mouth and hair

Workshop Description: Inspired by David McKee’s colourful creation 'Elmer', Kids Get Crafty brings a 2 hour workshop based on the original storybook and illustrations.

Join your child as they create a herd of patterned elephants, a moving parts picture and a gorgeous tote bag.

 

No prior experience necessary. 

 

As this is an extended class, we will break midway for some games and refreshments to allow for little attention spans.

Workshop Description: Inspired by Julia Donaldson’s classic creation 'The Singing Mermaid', Kids Get Crafty brings a 2 hour workshop based on the original storybook and illustrations by Lydia Monks. Join your child as they give a mermaid a beautiful beaded hairstyle, create a moving parts circus scene and decorate a wooden jewellery/treasure box.

 

No prior experience necessary.

All skills taught during this workshop are designed for easy replication and practice at home. No prior experience necessary.

Materials Used: A4 black & white reference image, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B pencils, rag paper

 

Techniques Taught: Seeing and drawing detail, identifying and applying tonal value, image transfer, drawing & shading the head, hair, face and neck, detailing - eyes, nose and mouth
